Tutorial: Material Baking#

Objective#

Learn how to configure, execute, and monitor material baking to reset floor life.


Step 1: Enable Feature#

  • Go to system configuration
  • Set:
    • /SMT/MaterialBaking/IsEnabled = True

Step 2: Configure Baking Oven#

  • Navigate to Resources
  • Select or create a resource
  • Set:
    • SMTIsBakingOven = true
    • SMTBakingOvenType = appropriate value

Step 3: Configure Product Attributes#

  • Open the product, create a new version and set the following Product Characteristics:
    • SMT Body Thickness
    • SMT Is BGA

These are required for baking time calculation.


Step 4 (Optional): Configure Rebake Limits#

  • On the product:

    • Set SMTDefaultNumberOfRebakes
  • On the material (if needed):

    • Override SMTRebakesLeft

Step 5: Start Materials Baking#

  • Go to Planning and Logistics and Select Start Materials Baking

  • Select:
    • Baking oven
    • Materials to bake

  • Review the required baking time per material

  • Click Start Baking


Step 6: Monitor Baking#

  • Open the baking oven resource and access the Baking View

  • Track:

    • Materials in oven
    • Remaining baking time
  • Identify completion:

    • Remaining time reaches 0


Step 7: Stop Materials Baking#

  • Go to Planning and Logistics and select Stop Materials Baking

  • Select:
    • Baking oven
    • Materials to remove

  • Click Stop Baking

Expected Result#

  • Materials completing required baking:

    • Have floor life reset (if configured)
  • Materials removed early:

    • Do not have floor life reset

Frequent Configuration Questions#

Why can't I move material manually?#

Material movement related to baking must be performed using the baking wizards. Manual movement is not supported.

Why is the calculated baking time incorrect?#

Verify the following:

  • The product attributes are correctly configured.
  • The baking table configuration is valid and up to date.

Why is the floor life not being reset?#

Check the relevant configuration flags and ensure they are enabled as expected.
