Tutorial: SMT Partial Track Out#
Estimated time to read: 3 minutes
Objective#
Learn how to automatically detach sub-materials (e.g., panels) from a lot during line flow execution, allowing them to proceed independently without waiting for the entire lot to complete.
Step 0: Validate Preconditions#
Before using Partial TrackOut, ensure:
-
Feature is enabled:
/SMT/MaterialPartialTrackOut/IsEnabled = True
-
You are working in a Line Flow scenario where:
- A lot (main material) is in process
- Sub-materials (e.g., panels) are processed in sub-resources
Step 1: Configure Partial TrackOut Context#
-
Navigate to Administration > Tables and open SMTPartialTrackOutContext
-
Add a new entry defining:
- Product / Product Group
- Flow / Step where Partial TrackOut applies
This step is mandatory — without this configuration, the feature will not trigger.
Step 2: Prepare Line Flow Scenario#
-
Start a lot (main material) in a Line Flow
-
Ensure:
- The lot contains sub-materials (e.g., panels)
- Sub-materials are processed in sub-resources within the line
Step 3: Process Sub-Materials#
-
Move the lot through the Line Flow
-
Process sub-materials (panels) individually through the steps
Step 4: Execute Final Step of Line Flow#
-
When a sub-material reaches the last step of the Line Flow
-
Perform Track-Out on the sub-material
-
The system automatically:
- Detaches the sub-material (panel) from the lot
- Moves it to the next step in the main flow
This happens automatically — no manual action is required.
Step 6: Validate Result#
After Track-Out, verify:
Sub-Material (Panel)#
- Has moved to the next step in the main flow
- Is now an independent main material
Lot (Original Main Material)#
- Remains in the line flow
- Continues processing remaining sub-materials
Expected Result#
- Sub-materials exit the line flow independently
- No need to wait for the full lot to complete
- Production flow becomes more efficient and continuous
Frequent Configuration Questions#
Why is the sub-material not being detached?#
Check that the SMTPartialTrackOutContext configuration is correctly defined and associated with the process.
Why is the feature not being triggered?#
Verify that the feature is enabled by confirming that the IsEnabled setting is configured correctly.
Why does the material remain in the lot after Track-Out?#
Ensure that the Track-Out operation is being performed at the correct step in the process flow.
Why am I experiencing unexpected behavior?#
Confirm that the scenario is configured as a Line Flow with sub-material processing, as this feature is intended for that specific use case.
