Tutorial: Start Material Reassignment#

Objective#

Learn how to reassign materials from one Production Order to another, ensuring they are correctly transferred and aligned with the target production context.

Step 1: Validate Preconditions#

Before starting the reassignment process, ensure the following conditions are met:

  • The Product is configured with:

    • MaterialStartMode = Reassignment

  • The target Production Order has:

    • A defined Flow Path
    • A defined Facility

  • The following configurations are available:

    • BOM
    • BOM Context

  • The materials to be reassigned:

    • Are at the last step of their current flow
    • Belong to a Product included in the BOM of the target Production Order

If these conditions are not met, the reassignment will not be allowed.

Step 2: Select the Target Production Order#

  • Navigate to Production Orders
  • Open the Production Order where you want to reassign materials

Step 3: Start Materials#

  • Click the Start Materials action

  • The reassignment wizard will open

Step 4: Select Materials to Reassign#

  • In the Scan Materials section:
    • Select or scan the materials to be reassigned

Step 5: Execute Reassignment#

  • In the wizard, click Reassign

  • A confirmation message is displayed indicating success

Step 6: Validate Source Production Order#

  • Return to the original Production Order

  • Confirm that:

    • The material is no longer Active

Step 7: Validate Target Production Order#

  • Return to the target Production Order

  • Confirm that:

    • The material is now listed
    • The material state is Active

Expected Result#

  • Material is successfully reassigned to the new Production Order
  • Material is no longer active in the original Production Order
  • Material reflects the new Product, Flow, and Step
  • The original Production Order Completed Quantity remains unchanged

Frequent Configuration Questions#

Why can't I reassign a material?#

Verify the following:

  • The material is at the last step of its current flow.
  • The BOM configuration is valid for the target Production Order.

Why is the material not being updated correctly after reassignment?#

Validate that the Product and Flow configurations are correctly defined and compatible with the target Production Order.

Why is the reassignment option not available?#

Check that the Product is configured with MaterialStartMode = Reassignment.
