Generate a Grafana Dashboard with AI#

Estimated time to read: 3 minutes

This follow-up scenario to the Grafana Tutorial shows how to use AI to generate and refine a custom Grafana dashboard for Cookie Factory production analysis.

Before You Start#

Review the operation requirements and restrictions in Generate Dashboards with AI.

Prepare the Scenario#

Prepare the following items before generating the dashboard:

Item Example configuration Reference
AI dashboard functionality Verify that the environment has the required AI configuration, license access, and user permissions. Generate Dashboards with AI

Scenario#

Cookie Factory Scenario

The Cookie Factory scenario is an example only. Use a custom Grafana-based Analytics View and data available in your environment. Adapt the view name and prompts to your own scenario.

A Cookie Factory production supervisor needs a dashboard to review yield losses and identify the Steps that require attention. The dashboard should show yield by Step, the main loss reasons, and a recent trend.

The custom Analytics View used in this tutorial is named Cookie Factory Yield Review.

Generate the Initial Dashboard#

  1. Open the Cookie Factory Yield Review Analytics View.
  2. Select the AI Editor button.
  3. Enter the following prompt:

Create a dashboard for Cookie Factory yield losses. Show yield by Step, the main loss reasons, and the yield loss trend for the last seven days.

  4. Review the generated dashboard.

The generated dashboard is an initial result. Review the visualizations and the information that they present before using the dashboard for production decisions.

Refine the Dashboard#

  1. Continue the conversation to request a refinement.
  2. Enter the following prompt:

Add a filter for the production Step and highlight the loss reason with the highest quantity.

  3. Review the refined result.

  4. If needed, manually edit the custom Grafana dashboard.

System dashboards remain visible but cannot be edited. Use a custom Grafana dashboard when manual changes are required.

Expected Result#

The Cookie Factory Yield Review Analytics View provides a dashboard that helps the supervisor review yield losses and identify the production Steps that require follow-up.
