Publish Change Package#

🔒 ChangePackage.Publish

Overview#

Use this operation only when the Publication Mode of an approved Change Package is Manual.

The Publish operation sends the Change Package to the Global Data Orchestrator, which creates the related Transport Package and makes the package contents available to the destination instances defined by the Deployment Plan.

Info

If the Publication Mode is set to Automatic, the system publishes the Change Package when it is set effective. No manual action is required.

Setup#

No specific setup is required other than meeting the preconditions of the operation.

Preconditions#

  • The Publication Mode of the Change Package is set to Manual.
  • The Change Package exists and is Active.
  • The system state of the Change Package is Approved.
  • You have an active Critical Manufacturing MES license that includes the Global Data Orchestrator module.
  • The Customer Environment and MES version of the site match those of the Change Package.

Package Encryption

A missing or incorrectly configured encryption key can prevent Change Package publication. If publication fails because of encryption configuration, contact your system administrator. For key requirements and configuration steps, see Global Data Orchestrator Package Encryption.

Note

Before publishing, the system runs the Verify operation using the default CheckNothing Table Verification Mode. If the verification reports errors, the system does not publish the Change Package. For more information, see Verify Change Package.

If the verification finishes without errors, the system:

  • Sets the system state of the Change Package to Published.
  • Records the publisher and publication date.
  • Requests the Global Data Orchestrator to create the related Transport Package.
  • Terminates the Change Package.
