Create Chart#
Chart.Create
Chart.CreateTemplate
Chart.CreateFromTemplate
Overview#
This operation is used to Create a Chart. A template can also be created using a similar procedure and there is also the possibility of using a template to create the new object as well. This selection can be done in the main entity menu.
Setup#
No specific setup is required other than to meet the preconditions of the transaction.
Preconditions#
- The Chart does not currently exist in the system.
Sequence of Steps#
Step 1: General Data#
- Enter a name for the Chart.
- Optionally, enter a description.
- Select the type (only for classification purposes). The list of possible values is taken from the ChartType Lookup Table.
- Specify whether the Chart is enabled or not (enabled by default) - when a Chart is disabled it is not possible to post new data to the Chart.
- Select a numeric Parameter for the Chart.
- Select the Chart Type from a list of possible Chart Types.
- Optionally, specify a Lookup Table to be taken as the names for the readings (sample readings source).
- Optionally, enable the option Terminate Logical Charts on Zero Data Points if you want to automatically terminate logical charts for which there are no data points.
- Specify the minimum and maximum number of readings per sample (note that the options on the minimum and maximum number of readings varies according the type of the chart).
- Select whether the centerlines are recalculated automatically or not. If they are to be calculated automatically, you must also specify the window size. Control limits are recalculated every window size number of data points, and the calculation will consider the last data point size number of data points. The data point size is necessary even if the centerlines are not recalculated automatically because they provide the default number of data points to be considered when triggering a manual recalculation.
- Define whether to use Learning Mode (the Chart begins without control limits and the limits are set and used automatically when the centerlines are recalculated).
- Select whether to disable the automatic calculation after learning if the Learning Mode is active.
-
Specify the data points retention time (in hours) and/or retention size. The data points will be kept in the system for the defined retention time up to a maximum number of retention size data points.
Info
The data points are only purged from the online system when the purge routine is run. The data points will still be available in the Operational Data Store (ODS).
-
Select Next to continue.
Step 2: Limits#
-
Specify whether the Specification Limits are of type Chart (maintained at the Chart) or Product (maintained at the Product or Product Group level).
Info
It is only possible to define the specification limits as Product if the Chart context information contains either the Product or the Product Group as keys.
-
Only if the Specification Limits are of type Chart: optionally specify the Upper Specification limit, Target, and Lower Specification limits.
- Specify whether the Control Limits are of type Automatic (using the standard statistical formulas) or not. If the Control Limits are not Automatic, you can optionally set the Upper and Lower Control Limits as well as the centerlines.
- Specify the value for Centerline 1 (the meaning depends on the Chart type) and for variable Charts; do the same for Centerline 2 (the meaning depends on the Chart type).
- Specify the value for the default Standard Deviation.
- Select Next to continue.
Step 3: Display#
- Specify the default filter mode: either the Last Number Of Points or a Date Interval.
- In case that the filter mode is Last Number Of Points, then specify the number of data points to be displayed in the chart by default. In case that the filter mode is Date Interval, then specify a From Date and To Date. It is possible to use dynamic date fields, such as Now and Today.
- Specify whether the Histogram must be shown by default or not.
- Specify whether Spec Limits must be shown by default or not.
- Specify whether the Sparkline must be shown by default or not.
- Specify whether the Timestamp must be shown by default or not.
- Specify whether the Sample Id must be shown by default or not.
- Specify the number of histogram intervals to display.
- Specify whether by default, the system must show the chart for both indicators (only possible for variable charts), the indicator one or the indicator two.
- Specify the Default Panel to Show, you can select from: Chart Statistics, Data Point Context, Data Point Details, Data Point Readings, Data Point Statistics, Data Point Violations, and None.
- Define whether the Y-Axis scale (only for the first indicator) is Automatic or Manual. If the Y-Axis scale is manual, you need to specify the major units as well as the minimum and maximum values of the scale.
- Optionally, choose a Lookup Table to select codes to be used when commenting a data point without violations, and optionally choose a Lookup Table to select codes to be used when commenting a data point with violations.
- Select Next to continue.
Step 4: Context#
This section is used to define the contexts for the Chart.
-
Add as many contexts as needed (select to add, to remove, and order the contexts with the and buttons). You need to specify at least one key (minimum), and for each context information element you should provide:
- The key order (only for key elements).
- Whether the element is key.
- The name of the context information element.
- A description of the context information element.
- The type of the element: Free Text, Lookup Table or Object.
- The source of the element (a LookupTable name for elements of type Lookup Table and an Object for elements of types Object).
Info
All context information elements are mandatory for posting data to the Chart, including those which are not keys.
-
Select Create to complete the operation and the new Chart will be created.
