Clone Asset Directory#

AssetDirectory.Clone

Overview#

This operation is used to clone an existing Asset Directory into a new Asset Directory with a different name and identical characteristics.

Setup#

No specific setup is required other than to meet the preconditions of the transaction.

Preconditions#

• The IoT Data Platform module is properly licensed in the system.
• The Asset Directory exists in the system.

Sequence of Steps#

The Clone Asset Directory wizard can be called from the Asset Directory page within the Data Platform menu. The default values will be taken from the current Asset Directory to be used as a base for the new object.

Step 1: General Data#

1. Select the Asset Directory from the dropdown box on the left side of the screen.
2. Select the Clone button on the top ribbon.
3. On the left side panel, add as many rows as desired (each row represents a new Asset Directory to be created based on the currently selected Asset Directory) by selecting and specifying the property values for each new instance to be created. You can also provide a name for each of the new instances, however if a Name Generator is configured for the Entity Type, you can leave the field blank and a new name will be automatically generated.
4. Optionally, enter a comment for the operation.
5. Select Clone to complete the operation.
