Locking and Unlocking#

Versioned objects can be locked and unlocked. Only one user can lock an object instance at any time. A locked versioned object can only be modified by the user who locked the object and most operations that modify the object in any way will be unavailable for all users.

This applies to the complete object and includes all versions.
Locking an Object#
To lock an object, you need to open the object page and select Lock on the top ribbon to open the corresponding wizard.
Unlocking an Object#
To unlock an object, you need to open the locked object page and select Unlock on the top ribbon to open the corresponding wizard.

Note that the unlock wizard can only be opened by the user who locked the object. All other users need to use the special operation described below.
Special Unlocking of an Object#
If you want to unlock an object that was locked by another user, you need to perform a special unlock action. To perform this action, open the locked object page and select Special Unlock on the top ribbon to open the corresponding wizard.
