A calibrated **Instrument** is associated with a process **Resource**, confirmed during **Track-In**, and then recorded in the **Data Collection Instance**. ![Screenshot showing the Measurement Station 01 instruments section before any instrument is associated.](../images/scenario_track_in_no_instruments.png) 1. Go to the **Resource** view of `Measurement Station 01`, the **Material** page for `PCB-LOT-001`, or the **Step** view of `Measurement Step`. 1. Execute **Dispatch** and **Track-In**. 1. On step 2 of the wizard, confirm `Caliper-001` for both **Parameters**. ![Screenshot showing Caliper-001 assigned in the Track-In instruments step.](../images/scenario_track_in_assigned_instrument.png) 1. Select **Track-In** to complete the operation. ![Screenshot showing PCB-LOT-001 in process at the measurement step after track-in.](../images/scenario_track_in_material_in_process.png) 1. Execute **Track-Out** for `PCB-LOT-001`. 1. On the **Data Collection** step, select `Caliper-001` for **Maximum Width** and enter a value between `50` and `100`. 1. Repeat the same selection for **Thickness** and enter a value between `300` and `500`. 1. Select **Track-Out**. !!! note Even though `Caliper-001` is confirmed during the Track-In Instruments step, the system does not preselect it during data entry. The operator must select the instrument for each parameter. ![Screenshot showing the Track-Out data collection step where the operator selects the instrument.](../images/scenario_track_out_select_instrument.png) 1. Go to **Business Data** > **Material** > `PCB-LOT-001`. 1. Open **Collected Data**, select the `Dimensional Measurement` instance, and open the **DATA** tab. 1. Verify that each reading shows the entered value and `Caliper-001` as the **Instrument** used. !!! note This is the location where you can verify the instrument used for each measurement. The information does not appear directly in the **Material History Report** or **Material Traceability View**. ![Screenshot showing the data collection instance with Caliper-001 stored on each reading.](../images/scenario_track_out_collected_data.png) ## Video Example {% set video_id = '2f8d6664b80266595e81a1cb0b9f34b4' %} {% include-markdown 'includes/cloudflare_stream.md' %} Next page: [Scenario 2: Exclusive Usage](exclusive_usage.md).
