--- alias: user-guide-associate-with-container tags: - maintenance description: "This documentation outlines associating a maintenance plan with a container through a wizard interface" --- # Associate Maintenance Plan With Container :lock: MaintenancePlan.**AssociateContainer** ## Overview The Associate Maintenance Plan with Container operation associates one or more **Containers** with a particular **Maintenance Plan**. ## Setup No specific setup is required other than to meet the preconditions of the transaction. ## Preconditions * **Container** is Active and has no other identical **Maintenance Plan** currently associated with it. * **Maintenance Plan** has an *Effective* version. ## Sequence of Steps The Associate Maintenance Plan with Container wizard can be called from the **Maintenance Plan** page within the Business Data Group. A **Container** can also be associated with a **Maintenance** **Plan** directly from the **Container** page Maintenance View. ### Step 1: Containers 1. Press the *Associate* button and from the dropdown options select **Container** to open the appropriate wizard. 2. Select the **Container** to which the **Maintenance Plan** will be associated. 3. Select the appropriate *Base Date* to set the date when the **Maintenance Plan** will start. 4. Select the appropriate *Schedule Mode* (Earliest or Latest). 5. If wished, apply the current definition to all the selected **Containers** by pressing the *Apply Same Date To All Containers* button 6. If wished, specify customized the *Base Date* and *Schedule Mode* for any of the Maintenance Activities that belong to the **Maintenance Plan**. ![mp_associate_containers_step_two][mp_associate_containers_step_two] ### Step 3: General Data 1. Select the owner role - the owner role represents the group of people who is able to manage the **Maintenance Activity Orders** under the **Maintenance Plan** Instance. 2. Optionally specify a distribution list - to be used by the *SendMaintenanceManagementNotificationMail* rule. 3. Press **Associate** to perform the operation. !!! info It is possible to define the default value for the *Schedule Mode* by editing the entry Context = `MaintenancePlan.Associate`, Element = `ScheduleMode` in the Generic Table [[guielementdefaultvalue-gt]].
