# Create Map

## Overview

This operation is used to create a **Map**, i.e., to define a set of desired characteristics of a **Map** object.

## Setup

No specific setup is required other than to meet the precondition of the transaction.  

## Preconditions

* The **Map** name must be unique.

## Sequence of Steps

### Step 1: General Data

1. Enter the name.
2. Optionally, enter the description.
3. Select the **Map Definition** on which the **Map** will be based.
4. Optionally, select a Step to provide context for the **Map**.
5. Optionally, select a Resource to provide context for the **Map**.

### Step 2: Layers

In this step, it's possible to upload one G85 file per layer. If no file is uploaded, the system will initialize each layer with the default value for the layer.

Select **Create** to complete the operation and the new **Map** will be created.
