--- alias: user-guide-request-for-mao description: "This documentation outlines the process for requesting material transfers associated with maintenance activity orders" --- # Request for Material Transfer for a Maintenance Activity Order :lock: MaterialTransfer.**RequestForMAO** ## Overview This operation is used to make a **Material Transfer** request for a particular **Maintenance Activity Order**. ## Setup No special setup is required other than to meet the preconditions of the transaction. ## Preconditions * Both the Source Facility and Target Facility must exist and be Active and Source Facility must be different from Target Facility. * The **Product** referenced in the **Material Transfer** must be Active and the **Material** Transfer Mode must be different from `None`. * The Requested Quantity can only be decimal if **Product** Is Discrete is `false`. * The From Facility must be defined and it must not be a Remote Facility. * If **Material Transfer** is either Inventory Transfer or **Material Transfer**, a To Facility must be defined. * If the To Facility is defined, it must not be a Remote Facility. * If the From Step is defined, it must have the Is Material Transfer Step set to `true`. * If the To Step is defined, it must have the Is Material TransferStep set to `true`. * If **Material Transfer** Allowed Pickup is Area Employee, the To Area must be defined. * When a **Maintenance Activity Order** is not associated with a **Resource**, there must be an open **MAO** assigned to a **Resource**. ## Sequence of Steps To request a **Material Transfer** for MAO, it is necessary to open a MAO and then select the **Material Transfer Request For MAO** button to initialize the wizard. ### Step 1: Details 1. Select a From Facility and optionally, a From Area. 2. Select the **Product** (must match a Part in the list of Parts for the MAO) and the Quantity to be requested (it defaults to the quantity of the list of Parts of the MAO). 3. Select an Urgency (values are taken from the generic table [[materialtransferurgency-gt]]). When the urgency is selected, the request delivery date is automatically set, based on the current date and the predefined Default Delivery Time for that Urgency (in minutes). 4. Optionally, override the request delivery date. 5. Optionally, enter a comment. 6.
