--- alias: user-guide-asset-directory-index tags: - data platform description: "An Asset Directory organizes assets into independent, structured domain trees within the system" --- # Asset Directory :lock: AssetDirectory.**Show** :lock: Asset.**Show** An **Asset Directory** represents a unique **Asset** tree structure, which can be seen as a domain to support the organization of different **Assets** in independent structures. In Critical Manufacturing MES, an **Asset Directory** will provide an ISA-95 inspired structure marked as a Manufacturing Directory, defined upon creation. That ISA-95 inspired structure is fixed and will have a corresponding Manufacturing Data Model structure similar to what can be found in the MES application. There can be multiple **Asset Directories** of other types that can use a free structure, whereas the Manufacturing **Asset Directory** must be a single unique instance. The Manufacturing **Asset Directory** data model can be seen below: ![Screenshot showing a directory structure for assets in a data platform.](../../images/data_platform_asset_directory_model.png) !!! note Enterprise, Site, Facility, Container, Resource and Device represent different Asset Classes. Here is an example of a possible Manufacturing **Asset Directory**: ![Screenshot showing an asset directory view with various files and folders listed.](../../images/asset_directory_view.png) There is a search box that allows you to search for a specific **Asset**. The search works as an incremental search where every character typed into the box will expand or collapse as needed to see all the **Assets** that match the specific search term.
