--- alias: user-guide-user-profile-culture description: "Customize the application’s language and labels through the culture settings interface" --- # Culture ## Language The **Language** used in the GUI can be customized. To do so, go to the **Culture** tab and select the appropriate language for the system: ![Screenshot showing a user's profile language settings.](../images/user_profile_language.png) !!! info The application will reload after submitting a change to the GUI culture. ## Label edition You can enable label editing in the system by setting the **Allow label edition** switch to `true`. Once you select **Apply**, the system will reload and enter label editing mode. In this mode, all translatable labels will be underlined. To edit a label, press **Ctrl + Click** (or double-tap on mobile devices). This will display a dialog identical to the one available in the **Localized Messages** editing mode, allowing access to the internal element of the text snippet. ![Screenshot showing an interface for editing a "user profile" label.](../images/user_profile_label_edition_general.png) By selecting your preferred language, you can define your own term to be used for all instances of that text snippet, overriding the terms supplied out of the box by the Critical Manufacturing MES. ![Screenshot showing a dialog for editing user profile labels, with options for languages and translations.](../images/user_profile_label_edition_messages.png) Select **Save** to complete the operation. To return to the default mode (without label editing), navigate back to the **Culture** tab on the **User Settings** dialog and set the **Allow label edition** switch to `false`. !!! warning This is a very useful procedure but must be approached with extreme caution since many of the text labels used are shared between multiple visual controls in the environment and any change could negatively affect all users of the same environment.
