--- alias: user-guide-material-holds description: "This documentation outlines managing material holds, releases, and special mass releases within the system" --- # Material Holds :lock: Quality.**MaterialHolds** :lock: Material.**Hold** :lock: Material.**MassHold** :lock: Material.**Release** :lock: Material.**MassRelease** ## View Material Holds Through the **Quality** menu you can select **Material Holds** to access the list of every Topmost **Material** on **Hold** in the system. ![Screenshot showing a list of Material Holds, accessible through the Quality menu.](images/material_holds_01.png) You are presented with a data grid with the following default columns: * Material * QTY (Quantity) * Product * Flow * Step * Sub Materials * Priority * State * Time on Hold !!! note At the end of the data grid you can drill down and access detailed information on the hold reason(s) for each **Material**. Some of the columns are sortable via their header, namely: * Material * QTY (Quantity) * Product * Priority * State * Time on Hold (default sort column starting with **Materials** that have been on hold the longest) Additionally, you can select more columns to add to your data grid as needed. Above the data grid you have various search and filter possibilities, which include the following: * Reason * Release Role * Label * Step * Product * Material Name * Filter: * Facility * Area * Flow * Production Order * Form * Type From this page, you can select the **Material(s)** you need and perform single or mass hold(s), single or mass release(s), and special mass release(s). ## Mass Hold Materials ### Preconditions * All hold **Reasons** are applicable to all **Materials**. ### Sequence of Steps **Step 1**: Materials 1. Select the **Mass Hold** button. 2. In the Mass Hold Materials wizard, define the parameters for the **Materials** you want to put on hold. You can use the following to find the **Materials**: * Source: * Material Filters - similar to those in the **Material Holds** view. * Material Descendants - you must provide the root **Material** and the **Depth Level**. * Material Ascendants - you must provide the root **Material** and the **Height Level**. * Query - you must provide a **Query** of **Materials**. * Step * Product * Material Name * Filter: * Facility * Area * Flow * Production Order * Form * Type 3. Select **Search** to preview the results and select the **Materials** that you need. 4.
