# Terminate Change Package

## Overview

This operation is used to Terminate an active **Change Package**.

!!! info
    When a Change Package is published, the Publish workflow automatically terminates it after the corresponding Transport Package is created.

## Setup

No specific setup is required other than meeting the preconditions of the operation.

## Preconditions

* The **Change Package** exists in the system and is Active.

## Sequence of Steps

The **Terminate Change Package** wizard can be called from the **Change Package** page within the Administration Group.

### Step 1: General Data

1. Open the active **Change Package** that you want to terminate.
2. Select **Terminate** to perform the operation. All generic/smart table rows that reference the current object will be removed and will not be recovered if the object is unterminated at a later point.

!!! warning
    A Change Package cannot be terminated if it is the target of a relation.

    When terminated, every relation where the Change Package is the source is also marked as terminated, which includes all its Change Package Items.
