--- alias: user-guide-header-index description: "The header manages opened pages, offering customization options and navigation controls" --- # Header When you open a section or entity page, the **Header** displays tabs for all open pages. ![Diagram representing the UI element tab in Critical Manufacturing MES](../../images/page_header_layout.png) Each of the opened tabs contain a **Go Back** navigation icon and a **Close** icon. ![Screenshot showing the Header in the GUI.](../../images/header.png) When hovering over the tabs, you can navigate between all of those that are opened. You can also drag and drop the tabs to change their position within the header to best suit your needs. On the far right of the header, a dropdown menu lists all open pages and allows you to close them all at once. It also enables to perform a search or to navigate to an open page. ![Screenshot showing the unfold menu button.](../../images/unfold_menu_button.png) When you close the currently active tab, another open tab becomes active. If no other tabs are open or all tabs are closed, you will return to Critical Manufacturing MES home page. Also on the far right of the header, the Activity Center icon will display: * [[user-guide-activity-center-my-notifications-page]] * [[user-guide-activity-center-recent-messages-page]] * [[user-guide-activity-center-my-tasks-page]] * [[user-guide-activity-center-bookmarks-page]] * [[user-guide-activity-center-recently-closed-page]] * [[user-guide-activity-center-cortex-page]] ![Screenshot showing the Notifications panel](../../images/notifications.png) Alongside the Activity Center icon, an icon with the user's credentials will display the user settings when opened, as well as other system options described in [System](system/index.md). In specific occasions, the user settings' menu will display a warning icon: ![Screenshot showing the warning icon close to the user profile.](../../images/clock_in_warning.png) This happens when the employee's clock-in and/or clock-out is required (if defined during the Employee creation). From there, it is possible to perform the [Clock-In Employee](../../../business-data/employee/clock_in_employee.md) and [Clock-Out Employee](../../../business-data/employee/clock_out_employee.md) operations. For each page, you can define **Open on Start-Up** by right-clicking the corresponding tab and selecting the option: ![Screenshot showing the "Open on Start-Up" option.](../../images/header_openonstartup.png) The page will then open automatically whenever you start or refresh the system. This configuration can be disabled by performing the same as above and selecting **Do not Open on Start-Up**: ![Screenshot showing the "Do not Open on Start-Up" option.](../../images/header_closeonstartup.png) If there are no opened pages, the header will collapse, and the content area will take its place. {{ generate_index() }}
