Troubleshooting - Application Server#
Internet Information Services (IIS)#
There are two methods for checking if the Internet Information Services (IIS) is working properly:
Using Windows Services Feature#
- Login to the Application server.
- Click on Start, Execute and type
Services.msc. - A new windows will appears where all the system services are displayed with the actual service state.
- Look for the IIS Admin service.
- Check for the services status columns. The column values must be Started. If not, right-click on the service and click on Start.
Checking Navigo site configuration using the IIS Manager#
- Login to the Application server.
- Click on Start, then select Administrative Tools and finally, Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- Expand the root node, Sites and Default Web Site. A list of sites appear.
- Select the Navigo site. In the right pane, a set of features is displayed.
- Double click on Authentication. The Navigo uses Windows Authentication. This mode should be the one enabled for the site.
- Go back to Home page using the browser back button.
- Double click on Default Document. The default page for Navigo is
default.aspx, and should be the first in the list. - Go back to Home page using the browser back button.
- Double click on MIME Types. There are two MIME Types mandatory for Navigo:
text/xml (.xml) and application/xaml+xml (.xaml).
Critical Manufacturing Foundation#
To check if the Critical Manufacturing Foundation is working properly, follow the steps:
- Login to the Application server.
- Click on Start, Execute and type
Services.msc. - A new windows appears where all the system services are displayed with the actual service state.
- Look for the Critical Manufacturing Foundation service.
- Check for the service status column. This column value must be Started. If not, right-click on the service and click on Start.

Shipping Gateway Service#
To check if the Shipping Gateway Service is working properly, follow the steps:
- Login to the Application server.
- Click on Start, Execute and type
Services.msc. - A new windows appears where all the system services are displayed with the actual service state.
- Lookup for Shipping Gateway Service.
- Check for the service status column. This column value must be Started. If not, right-click on the service and click on Start.
MSMQ Service#
To check if the Message Queuing service is working properly, follow the steps:
- Login to the Application server.
- Click on Start, Execute and type
Services.msc. - A new windows appears where all the system services are displayed with the actual service state.
- Look for the Message Queuing service.
- Check for the service status column. This column value must be Started. If not, right-click on the service and click on Start.

MS-Distributed Transaction Coordinator#
To check if the MS-Distributed Transaction Coordinator is working properly, follow the steps:
- Login on the Application server.
- Click on Start, execute and type
Services.msc. - A new windows appears where all the system services are displayed with the actual service state.
- Look for Distributed Transaction Coordinator service.
- Check for the service status column. This column value must be Started. If not, right-click on the service and click on Start.
Load Balancing#
The Critical Manufacturing Discovery Service is a service in the WSFC all the best practices regarding cluster monitoring should be applied.
There are different components monitored for availability:
- the cluster reports status of the cluster nodes, resource groups, and all resources.
- cluster nodes report the status of cluster groups on that node; state of other nodes; and state of resource groups.
- the cluster instances report the availability of the instance.
