Passthrough Steps#

In the system, a Step may be modeled as a passthrough Step, meaning that no Service should be required at this Step. This aims to model certain operation (Transfer of Material from one station to the next, Visual Inspection, Storage at a Buffer) which do not require a Resource to process.

Scheduling will model the Jobs for these Steps with no capacity/availability constraints: they can be executed as soon as the previous operation and other precedences are finished. The cycle time for these Steps will be calculated based on the Step Product Yield and Cycle Time Context smart table, with the total processing time for that step being given by Fixed Cycle Time + (Quantity x Variable Cycle Time).

Info

As these Jobs are not associated with a Resource, they will not be visible in the scheduling GUI.
