# How To: Enable a Connect IoT Integration User

Before Connect IoT can authenticate as an MES user, that user must have the `Integration User` flag enabled. Without it, the **Automation Manager** cannot establish a session with MES. Follow the steps below to enable the flag on the target user account.

1. Select **Administration** in the left menu.

2. Select the **Security** icon.

3. Select **Users** to open the account management page.

4. In the account list, select the account to enable as an integration user. This example uses `Administrator`.

5. On the account details page, select **Edit** to open the wizard.

6. Enable the **Integration User** option.

7. Select **Save** to apply the change and close the wizard.
