# Compare Change Set Items

## Overview

This operation is used to compare each item with its Default Revision or Effective Version (if defined).

## Setup

No special setup is required other than to meet the preconditions of the transaction.

## Preconditions

* **Change Set** exists and its state is Active or Created.

## Sequence of Steps

1. Select an appropriate **Change Set** and navigate to the Items section.
2. For the Compare button to be enabled, you must select one of the available items in the **Change Set** Items list.

    !!! note
	    Compare selection must be done for each of the individual entries present in the **Change Set** Items list.

3. You can choose to compare the Default Revision or the Effective Version (if defined).

4. When selected, the **Change Set** Item will open in a new tab, which is the Compare View of its own page.

    !!! tip
        To facilitate the approval, if you check the Show Modified Only checkbox, only the changed fields are shown.
