--- alias: user-guide-create-change-set-items tags: - change management description: "Create change set items within an existing change set for modification and tracking" --- # Create Change Set Items :lock: ChangeSet.**Edit** ## Overview This operation is used to create a new **Change Set** item (optionally creating the entity instance that it contains) and add it to the list of items that belong to a **Change Set**. ## Setup No special setup is required other than to meet the preconditions of the transaction. ## Preconditions * **Change Set** exists and it is in Active or Created state. ## Sequence of Steps 1. Select an appropriate **Change Set**, navigate to the *Items* section and select the *Create* button. 2. Select the Entity Type to create. 3. There are two options to add a new **Change Set** item: * If you want to create a new entity instance from the type selected above, select *Create* and you will be presented with the dialog to create a new version of that entity type. * If you want to create a new version for an existing object, select the Entity Instance from which you want to create a new version and select the *New Version* button. 4. Fill in the appropriate details. When the wizard completes, the MES will navigate to the new object. !!! note The original **Change Set** tab will remain open and navigating to it will show the new Change Set item wizard open and ready for user interaction. 5.
