# Reset Data Collection Instance

## Overview

This operation deletes all the values of an existing long-running **Data Collection Instance**.

## Setup

No special setup is required other than to meet the preconditions of the transaction.

## Preconditions

* The **Data Collection Instance** is Open.

## Sequence of Steps

From the **Material** where the **Data Collection Instance** is open, select the **Reset Data** button.

1. Select the **Reset** button to complete the operation.

    Once a **Data Collection Instance** is reset all the existing values are removed and cannot be recovered.
