Manage Scheduling#

🔒 Step.Edit

Overview#

This operation is used to define and manage the Step's Scheduling details.

Setup#

No specific setup is required other than to meet the precondition of the transaction.

Preconditions#

  • The Scheduling module is properly licensed in the system.
  • The Step is created and it is Active.

Sequence of Steps#

Step 1: Manage Step Scheduling#

If the Scheduling module is properly licensed in the system, the Scheduling tab will be enabled on the right-hand sidebar and you will be able to define the Step's scheduling information.

  1. Select whether the Step is to be included in Planning.

    Note

A Step cannot be marked at the same time to be included in Planning and in Scheduling, and a Step marked to be included in Scheduling is automatically considered in Planning.

  2. Select whether the Step is to be included in Scheduling.

  3. If the Step has been selected to be included in Scheduling, select if the Schedule Scenario Jobs can spread across working times, that is, if they can start in a certain work period and continue after a non-working period.
  4. If the Step is defined to be included in Scheduling, define the default Step setup time and the setup time-scale. Options are: Seconds, Minutes, Hours or Days.
  5. Optionally, define the Step View Time Frame, which determines the number of hours to restrict the Scheduling jobs to be displayed in the Resource View.
  6. Choose the Default Schedule View. Options are: Day, Week or Month.
  7. Choose the Schedule View Mode, which determines the type of view you will be presented when opening the Schedule view. Options are: Material or Production Order Step.

    Info

For more information, see Scheduling Modes.

  8. If the Step has been marked either as Include in Planning or Include in Scheduling, it is possible to define the Scheduling Inventory Type:

    • None - the Step is not considered as an inventory step at all.
    • In Progress - the Step is considered to contain components in progress.
    • Semi Finished Products - the Step is not considered to be a storage step for finished components (semi-finished products).
    • Raw Materials - the Step is considered to be a storage step for raw components.
  9. If the Step has been marked either as Include in Planning or Include in Scheduling, optionally, it is possible to define the Resource Preference Step Group. This would imply that, for Scheduling, if consecutive Steps can be scheduled to the same Resource, then Scheduling will give preference to Resource already being used. The list of possible values is taken from the ResourcePreferenceStepGroup lookup table.
  10. If the Step has been marked either as Include in Planning or Include in Scheduling, define the Production Order Scheduling Mode. Options are:
    • Fixed Size - you must also define the quantity to be assigned to each Production Order Step after synchronization.
    • Full Production Order - the entire quantity will be assigned to the Production Order Step equivalent to the Step.

Info

When generating a Schedule in Planning Mode, for the Products that are marked with Use Stock In Scheduling, the system will first try to use inventory from Steps that are marked as Semi Finished Products, then from Steps that are marked as In Progress, and finally from Steps that are marked with Raw Materials.

Additionally, when the Step is marked as Include in Scheduling, Material and Resource Sort Rule Sets will be set accordingly.
