The Business Intelligence Group provides access to the system reports. The individual report folder permissions can be managed in SQL Server Reporting services or in the Critical Manufacturing Security GUI.
Note
For more information, see the Security section in the User Guide.
It is important to understand the Critical Manufacturing database architecture as described in the next picture:
The online database contains the runtime data up-to-date. There is a delay of some minutes before the data is replicated to the Operational Data Store (ODS). The Operational Data Store contains all the online database in a non-aggregated from and it is the primary source of reporting. Once or a few times per day, the Operational Data Store data is aggregated into the Data Warehouse. Therefore, it is possible that, when checking data in the ODS, the user will see immediately the changes that occurred in the online database. Also, the Data Warehouse reports will only contain aggregated data after the ODS aggregation job has been run, which typically occurs one or a few times per day.
Another important aspect is that the data in the Data Warehouse is aggregated according to some time periods, whereas in the Operational Data Store, the data is not aggregated. Therefore, when running a report against the Operational Data Store, the user is able to specify an arbitrary time frame which may not be aligned with the day or shift definitions. For Operational Data Store reporting, the data and time filters are both inclusive and use the latest Calendar and Shift Definitions. For data Warehouse Reporting, the data and time filters are always adjusted to the selected Calendar and Shift start and end times.
The following section on Analytics Views may also be useful:
- [[user-guide-analytics-views-index]] - a page that allows you to create or view Analytics Views, and allow you to use the data sets in reports or dashboards. Analytics Views are available in the Business Intelligence page group.
