Move Asset#

Asset.Edit

Overview#

This operation is used to move an Asset, changing the parent Asset from which it is attached.

Setup#

No specific setup is required other than to meet the preconditions of the transaction.

Preconditions#

• The IoT Data Platform module is properly licensed in the system.
• The Asset exists in the system.

Sequence of Steps#

The Move Asset wizard can be called from the Asset Directory page within the Data Platform menu.

Step 1: General Data#

1. Select the Asset Directory from the dropdown box on the left side of the screen.
2. Select the appropriate Asset from the Asset Directory tree.
3. Select Move in the More button on the top ribbon.
4. Select the Asset Directory to which the Asset will be moved.

5. Select the Asset that will become the new Parent of the current Asset, either by selecting it from the Asset Directory tree or by searching for it in the available selection box.

   If you search for a specific Parent Asset name, the system will navigate to the Asset in the Asset Directory tree so that it is easier for you to find the appropriate Asset when a large number of Assets are included in the tree.

6. Select Move to complete the operation.
