Overview#

The Barcode Identification page provides easy means for a user to scan barcodes (line or QR codes) that match specific objects within the system. The available objects that can be matched are:

  • Material
  • Resource
  • Container

Preconditions#

  • The environment must be running on https:// (create the certificates for the browser to allow the usage of the camera and devices).

Info

As a workaround, you can go to the Google Chrome Browser on each device and navigate to: chrome://flags/#unsafely-treat-insecure-origin-as-secure and in the field add the virtual machine url as an accepted website.

Customize Barcode Identification Page#

The Barcode Identification Page is fully customizable. After scanning or inserting the name of an entity, a number of operations will be available for the user to perform on the entity. Those operations will be displayed as buttons on a panel on the right side (when viewed in a desktop monitor) or on a handheld device.

Edit the Barcode Property for each Entity by opening the Barcode Identification Settings wizard, accessible through the three vertical dots.

Scan#

In order to load an entity through the barcode identification page, the user can press the button in the top ribbon. The browser should ask the user for authorization to use the system-configured camera and open a small modal window with a viewport that allows the user to place the code to be read. The user can change the type of barcode currently being read by simply switching the option underneath the viewport.

The reading is done automatically and the entity, upon being read, will be opened and the actions will be displayed.

Warning

In order to be read correctly, the barcode or QR code should be held in front of the camera so that it is centered and completely contained in the viewport.

Pressing the eye icon on the right hand side of each entity row will display an information panel on the entity:

If desired, the barcodes can be inserted directly by pressing the button and writing the value string directly in the text field. Confirming the wizard will open the entity in the page.
